LUCY is Hull #1 of the Islander design and demonstrates the Herreshoff pedigree and craftsmanship aficionados have come to love. She was designed by A. Sidney DeW Herreshoff, son of the famous Nathaniel Greene Herreshoff. She was built in 1951 in the tradition of many previous Herreshoff-designed cup defenders. She has been owned and maintained by Barnegat Bay Maritime Museum, previously Tom’s River Seaport Society. LUCY underwent a major refit in 2011/2012 at de Rouville’s Boat Shop in Bayville, NJ.
